“For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Mark 10:45

Serve Day provides churches across the world with opportunities to serve their local communities and share the love of God through practical acts of kindness. Serve Day is July 14, 2018, but our hope is that serving others becomes our focus throughout the year. Simple acts of selfless love can open hearts to Jesus, and together we can make a difference.

Join MBC as we participate in Serve Day 2018.  Go to middlebeltbaptistchurch.serveday.com to sign up for a project or register one of your own.  You can also find links to the App Store and Google Play to download the app.

  • As you are serving, be sure to share the love of God and invite people to come to a service at MBC.  Invitation cards will be made available for this purpose.

  • When at all possible, we ask that you perform your Serve Day projects in the city of Inkster.

  • Being out of town does not exclude you from participating.  Acts of kindness can be done no matter where you are.

  • Please, please, please take pictures and share your Serve Day stories so that they can be posted on the MBC website.  Email pictures or short videos and stories to middlebeltpics@gmail.com.

Here are a few ideas for projects.  If you decide to do a project, click here and go to the MBC Serve Day site and add it to the list of projects by clicking on “Create Project” and filling out the pertinent information.

  • Pass out cold water to people waiting at bus stops or playing sports at the park.

  • Babysit for free for someone who could use some respite.

  • Perform yard work for a neighbor.

  • Visit a nursing home or assisted living facility and visit with the residents.

  • Bake cookies and give them away to neighbors.

  • Pay it forward.  While going through a drive-thru, pay for the order of the person behind you.  Ask the employee if they would hand an invite card to the person when they pick up their order.

  • Redbox Takeover.   Always include an invitation card from MBC.

  • Send someone a thinking of you card.

  • Volunteer at a soup kitchen.

  • If you own a service business, perform some services at reduced or no cost.

These are just a few examples. The possibilities are endless.

The World of the Generous  If you want to get to the very core of what SERVE Day is all about, this message from
Pastor Chris Hodges will rock your world.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
1 PETER 4:10-11
